Examination of antinuclear antibody (ANA) is used in diagnosis systemic autoimmune diseases, and the indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) assay using HEp-2 cells gold standard method. allows detection multiple target antigen-directed autoantibodies. The guide “The International Consensus on ANA Patterns (ICAP)”, characterizes patterns into three groups: nuclear, cytoplasmic, mitotic. majority these are associated with but some rarely seen diseases or may be conditions other than disease. There no consensus how to report cytoplasmic mitotic patterns-negative positive. We aimed examine characteristics patients that had staining evaluation by IIF. In our Medical Microbiology Laboratory, 18985 tests 16940 were studied between 01.01.2015-31.12.2019. Cytoplasmic pattern was detected 393 (2.07%) belonging 385 patients. suggestive anti-mitochondrial (AMA), anti-smooth muscle (ASMA), anti-Jo-1 anti-ribosomal P-protein not included. most common anti-midbody, anti-spindle fibers, anti-vimentin patterns. 66 rheumatology negative for staining. statistically significant difference suggest should reported as “negative” case unless term anti-cell used.
